| Q: |
What makes IconPeople different? |
| A: |
When we say our solution is cross-platform, we mean
cross-platform. We don't design for the Macintosh then try to push Macintosh conventions
onto Windows and Linux. If its cross-platform, it has to look good on every platform.
We also bring software development and software sales experience to the table. We know
the look that sells, because we make and sell software, too. |
| Q: |
Hey, I like the Mac! You IconPeople aren't ridiculing my
favorite computer, are you? |
| A: |
No way! We love
Macs, and work with them as required for a project. From a design
perspective though, what looks great and appropriate on a Mac doesn't
necessarily look great and appropriate under Windows or Linux or
on some crazy handheld. But there are some Mac loving designers
out there that want to convert other platform users to the true
faith. That's not usually good in all cases, unless you are Apple
Computer.

| Q: |
What makes IconPeople affordable other than your website saying so? |
| A: |
We have three offices worldwide, so we source
appropriate talent from multiple, local labor pools. You could say that we outsource,
but we outsource to ourselves to the benefit of our customers. That's why other icon
providers charge $300 per set of icons, while we charge about $100. |

| All about Icons |
| Q: |
Why license icons when I can get plenty from the
internet or from other programs? |
| A: |
What you get off of the internet may not be free,
and the icons in other programs belong to other vendors, not you. Icons are intellectual
property. If you aren't expressly given the right to use an icon, you can get sued for
helping yourself to someone else's work. It's just like copying someone else's source
code. |
| Q: |
If I license IconPeople icons, do I own them? |
| A: |
No, but you can use them in your projects.
Icons fall under copyright laws, and remain the property of IconPeople. But you don't
have to own icons in order to use them. Download our user license for details. |
| Q: |
Is there a limit on how many projects I can include the icons? |
| A: |
No, you can use them in any number of projects.
If you build your branding around using our icons, it makes sense to use them consistently
throughout your software, website, advertising, and elsewhere. But don't turn one of our stock
icons into your company logo. We already own the copyright on our icons! |
| A: |
No, but you can use them in your projects.
Icons fall under copyright laws, and remain the property of IconPeople. But you don't
have to own icons in order to use them. Download our user license for details. |
| Q: |
I like your icons, but I need a couple or dozen that I don't see.
What can IconPeople do about that? |
| A: |
There are two ways we can handle this. You can hire us
outright to make you a special program icon or logo and whatever other icons you need,
and you can own those. Or, if we think we can incorporate them into our existing collections,
we can create new icons and charge you a reduced rate. |
| Q: |
Can I license the icons, then stick them into all of my client's software? |
| A: |
No, you can use the icons in the projects you own,
but you cannot give them to someone else or grant someone else the
right to use them. You cannot take our icons, incorporate them into your software and
then open source the entire project. |
| Q: |
Can I license the icons, then stick them on a network
to share with my friends, co-workers and passing strangers? |
| A: |
No, that is the same as giving them away.
Even if you use the icons on your websites, noone in their right mind needs to
place dozens of icons out there, unless their intent is to give them away. |
